Derek Pendleton, LCSW, ACSW, BCD

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Pennsylvania with over 25 years of experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

I earned bachelor’s degrees in psychology and criminal justice as well as a Master of Social Work from Temple University. I also completed the University of Pennsylvania’s Beck Initiative, an advanced program focused on the evidence-based practice of cognitive therapy.

In addition to my work as a psychotherapist, I have extensive experience supervising clinicians, training clinical supervisors, leading research teams, and developing behavioral health programs in Philadelphia and Bucks County.

A Practical and Personalized Approach to Therapy

Effective therapy begins with a trusting relationship. I prioritize creating an environment where you feel listened to, respected, and comfortable discussing sensitive experiences at your own pace.

My treatment approach integrates several established therapeutic methods, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy and psychodynamic therapy, along with techniques for stress reduction, emotional regulation, and behavior modification.

Depending on your needs, therapy may help you:

  • Understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors

  • Put worries and stressful situations into perspective

  • Develop healthier coping and communication skills

  • Address the underlying causes of recurring challenges

  • Improve emotional regulation and manage difficult reactions

  • Strengthen relationships and resolve conflicts

  • Clarify your priorities and work toward meaningful goals

  • Feel more hopeful, confident, and in control

I offer compassionate support alongside practical guidance and direct feedback. Together, we will identify an approach that reflects your needs and helps you make progress beyond the therapy room.
